The parish phase of this year’s Project Advance Appeal has just begun. The theme Our Way Forward will continue the work so diligently promoted by the Project Advance office since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
As you may know, Covid-19 has affected so many of us in very unexpected ways. In our parish community, the amount of education support we had to offer to struggling families in 2020 tripled to $38,000 due to lost work opportunities and health-related issues. Project Advance offers us a real opportunity to reach out to these families to show we care. Through this appeal I am hoping we can raise at least $34,500 for this outreach effort. I wish to make it clear, these bursaries are only for families in dire need. The other area your donations will support is the Infrastructure Development Fund. We must continue the work of growing this fund in order to meet our development timelines. Through your generous support, I hope we may be able to raise $30,000 for the IDF this year.
As in previous appeals, the amount rebated to the parish will be determined only after we have met the Archdiocesan portion of the fundraiser. This amount, set by the Project Advance Office for us is $41,500. The good news is that we have just exceeded that goal by $11,150. My sincere thanks to all of you who have brought us thus far through your donations in the past few months.
For those who have not given yet, I would like to emphasize the importance of participation as a means of your caring for the parish family. I understand this year may pose some financial challenges for some of you. Perhaps you could consider a scaled-down giving plan over several months to make your contributions more manageable. Your 2021 tax receipt will reflect payments made up to the end of this December. Donations that go beyond this date will be part of next year’s tax receipt.
Please go to projectadvance.ca to watch the video or you can make your donation here. You will be asked to indicate which parish your donation is for. I appreciate your giving this matter your prayerful consideration. Thank you in advance for your generous response.
Yours in Christ,
Fr Babu Mathew, CSsR
