Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation offers us the opportunity to reflect on the areas in our lives where we have failed to be the people God has created us to be and to bring these failures and sins to God in humility and confidence that God loves us and forgives us.

“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained’” (John 20:21-23).

How often should I go to Confession?
The Church encourages us to celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation at least twice a year – during Advent in preparation for the feast of Christmas and during Lent in preparation for Easter. However, more frequent regular Confession can strengthen our faith and help us to live more authentic Christian lives.

What are the times for Confession?
At Our Lady’s, a priest is available for Confession on Saturdays from 4:00-4:45pm. However, you are free to call the office at any time to make an appointment to see a priest for Confession.

How do I go to Confession?
If it’s been a while since you’ve gone to Confession, don’t let anxiety keep you away. The priest will help you. Leaflets on how to go to Confession are also available in the Church.
